Lessons From Cannes

Lesson one – The Team

Dear Diary,

The internet is great, but irl hits different.

We spend most of our days building things online.

Slacking. Shipping. Memeing through deadlines. On paper, we’re “remote.” But if you’ve ever worked on something that mattered with people you actually vibe with, you know it’s more than that.

At Cannes, I finally got to meet the faces behind the usernames (not all of them but hey). And here’s the first lesson we walked away with:

Nothing replaces real connection.

Meeting your team IRL does something the group chat never could. It softens the grind. It makes the mission feel shared in a whole new way.

We all love the perks that come with working remote in a crypto environment.

The freedom. The flexibility. The ability to answer messages in your hoodie from three time zones away. No complaints.

But every once in a while, you need to touch grass, or at least see the people you’re building with in 3D. Because as much as we love async life, too much of it can get… weird. You start to forget how to finish sentences out loud. Your social battery lives on 1%.

TLDR of how the “get together” went:

  • dumb jokes that turn into content like this

  • “are you bald by choice?”

  • a shared sense of why you’re building together in the first place

Work hits different when you’ve looked someone in the eye and laughed over overpriced coffee (and let me tell you the coffee here IS for sure overpriced).

Trust builds faster. Ideas flow better. You remember that on the other side of the screen is someone just as obsessed, curious, chaotic, and human as you are.

So lesson one?

Make time to meet your team. Even if it’s just once a year.

Get out of the DMs. Touch some grass. Build the bond that makes the work worth it.

More lessons from Cannes dropping soon, but this one had to come first.
Although it’s not a marketing or growth lesson, it is for sure a lesson I had to share.

Because no tech, no strategy, no deck means anything if the humans behind it aren’t locked in.

From our team to yours.
